A Curated Visual Journey on Lake Como
Kaytlin and Ricky flew in from Thailand for this. That alone says something about how much the day meant to them. They chose Villa Balbiano for their pre-wedding photoshoot, and it suited them completely. The villa sits directly on Lake Como, with baroque frescoes, antique chandeliers, and formal gardens that feel more like a living museum than a private residence. It is one of those spaces that sets a tone the moment you walk in, and Kaytlin and Ricky matched it effortlessly.
Villa Balbiano: A Setting That Stays With You
For a pre-wedding photoshoot, Villa Balbiano offers something most venues cannot. The interiors are layered with antique furniture, oil paintings, and light that moves slowly across the walls throughout the day. There is a depth to the space that makes every frame feel considered without any effort on our part.
We spent most of the day inside the villa itself, working through the rooms at an unhurried pace. The architecture gave us natural composition at every turn. We also moved through the lakefront gardens, where the structure of the grounds and the mountains beyond offered a completely different quality of image.
The Session
Kaytlin moved through five looks across the day, each one a natural shift in mood. The session had an editorial look to it from the very first frame. She has a natural ease that made the work feel less like directing and more like following, and Ricky matched that energy completely. Together they were relaxed, intimate, and entirely themselves.
Toward the end of the afternoon we took a boat out across the lake. Lake Como has a particular quality of light in those later hours, and being on the water gave us a few of our favourite images from the day.
Pre-Wedding Photography in Italy
This is the kind of pre-wedding photoshoot we love most. A couple who traveled with intention, a venue with four centuries of history, and a session that felt close and unscripted throughout. Villa Balbiano gave us the architecture. Kaytlin and Ricky gave us everything else.
