Iconic Wedding in Venice at Belmond Hotel Cipriani
Lily and Barrett wanted their wedding to feel like Venice. Four days of celebrations followed that felt completely in keeping with the city, theatrical, romantic, and alive with a sense of occasion that never tipped into excess.
Four Days of Celebrations in Venice
The weekend opened with a welcome cocktail at Taverna Remer, a venue tucked along a quiet canal with the kind of raw Venetian architecture that stops people in their tracks. Guests arrived to something that felt genuinely surprising, which set exactly the right tone for what was to come. The following evening moved to a welcome dinner at the historic Palazzo Zeno, where centuries of Venetian art and architecture surrounded the table. By the time the wedding day arrived, guests had already shared two evenings together in the city, and that warmth carried through everything that followed. For couples considering a Venice destination wedding, a multi-day format like this is genuinely worth considering. It gives guests time to settle into the city, and it gives the wedding itself room to breathe.
The Wedding at Belmond Hotel Cipriani
Belmond Hotel Cipriani is one of the finest wedding venues in Venice, sitting across the water from St Mark's Square on the island of Giudecca. The ceremony took place outdoors, with the lagoon stretching out behind them and florals by Fiore all'occhiello framing the moment. The reception was something else entirely. Red velvet draping, Murano glass chandeliers, candlelight across long gold tables, and a room that felt lifted from another century. The entrance of the couple was announced by performers dressed in the spirit of the Venice Carnival, elaborate corset gowns, powdered wigs, Venetian masks, and feather fans held aloft. It was theatrical in the best possible sense, completely in dialogue with the history and opulence of the city itself.
Photographing a Wedding in Venice
Venice keeps you on your toes as a photographer. The light moves from the softness of an outdoor ceremony to the deep drama of a candlelit reception, and the energy in the room shifts just as fast. We love that about working here. No two moments look the same, and no two weddings in Venice ever do either.
